Windows Driver Foundation High Cpu Displaylink

Post by Steve1988 »

I've been experiencing high CPU usage on Windows due to the Windows Driver Foundation process. After some research, I found that this issue could be related to the Displaylink driver. I've tried looking for an updated version of the driver on the official Displaylink website, but couldn't find it. Could someone please provide me with a direct download link to the latest Displaylink driver? I would greatly appreciate any assistance in resolving this CPU usage problem. Thank you in advance!

Device Specification:
- Device Type: DisplayLink
- CPU: Windows Driver Foundation (WDF)
- Issue: High CPU usage

Troubleshooting Questions and Answers:
1. Q: Why is my DisplayLink device causing high CPU usage?
A: High CPU usage can occur if the Windows Driver Foundation (WDF) is not properly optimized or if there are compatibility issues with the installed DisplayLink driver. Try updating the driver to the latest version from the official DisplayLink website to resolve the issue.

2. Q: How can I check the CPU usage of the Windows Driver Foundation?
A: To check the CPU usage of the Windows Driver Foundation, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager. Then, navigate to the "Processes" or "Details" tab, locate "Windows Driver Foundation" or "WdfHost.exe" in the list, and observe the CPU usage percentage. If it is abnormally high, it may be causing the high CPU usage issue.

3. Q: What can I do if updating the DisplayLink driver did not resolve the high CPU usage problem?
A: If updating the DisplayLink driver did not solve the high CPU usage problem, try disconnecting the DisplayLink device from the computer and reconnecting it. Sometimes, a simple reconnection can help resolve temporary connectivity or communication issues between the device and the Windows Driver Foundation, reducing the CPU usage. If the issue persists, contact DisplayLink support for further assistance.
